After the Slovenian language lessons, the classrooms of the Stella Alpina Valcanale Slovenian Cultural Centre – Slovensko kulturno sredisce Planika v Kanalski dolini become regular social rooms, provided with modern teaching and self-learning means for the young people in attendance: video recorders, music lecterns and computers. The Centre promotes vital and up-to-date contacts with contemporary cultural events in Slovenia, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Carinthia.
The various events organized by the Centre every year host writers and contemporary poets specialized in literature for children and teens, along with well-known and lesser-known personalities from the music world, from different areas of cultural production, such as Slovenia, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Austria.
In the last two years, we have hosted: Miroslav Kosuta, Marko Kravos, Tone Partljic, Eva Skofic Maurer, Kajetan Kovic, Ervin Fritz, Jan Plestenjak, Vlado Kreslin, Vita Mavric and Mojmir Sepe.
International contacts and exchanges are organized with groups and schools (for example, the exchange of visits among the students from the Secondary Schools of Tarvisio and Kranj); in fact, we consider that bringing young people in direct contact with their age-mates is the best motivation for multicultural education and for learning other languages.
